Everything Stems from Something: A Journey from the Garden to Conceptual Design.
We are thrilled to invite you to “Everything Stems from Something, a two-day intensive workshop held in the heart of London. Guided by floral designers Federica Carlini and Marzena Joseph, this creative experience bridges the historic richness of British floristry with a bold, conceptual approach to design. We are in the patria of floristry and gardening, a place where the tradition of working with flowers runs deep, and where the garden is more than just a source of materials; it’s a way of thinking.
Here, we’ll explore the creative process not just as a means to make something beautiful, but as a way to tell a story from garden to idea to execution. This workshop is an invitation for florists, creatives, and curious minds who seek to move beyond aesthetics and trends into a deeper dialogue with nature and design.
Drawing inspiration from British forms and using materials gathered directly from the garden, we’ll dive into essential questions about what we choose to express and why. Through hands-on exploration, conceptual thinking, and the practice of restraint (sometimes the most powerful choice is knowing what to leave out), we’ll connect old-world floristry with modern intention. Together, we’ll explore how floral design becomes a tool for storytelling. Using garden-grown materials and referencing classical design principles, we’ll examine the journey from raw botanical inspiration to refined conceptual execution.
Not everything is best expressed with flowers. But everything stems from something.
Held in collaboration with Stokesay Flower Farm www.stokesayflowers.co.uk , the workshop honours the relationship between grower and florist. All the flowers used will be grown and supplied by the farm, grounding the experience in seasonality, sustainability, and the full-circle beauty of the creative process from soil to story.
